The reverse side of the Blackwing, bearer of the famous slogan “Half the Pressure, Twice the Speed”, hasn’t changed as much as the labeling found on the obverse. But as you can see, there have been changes nonetheless. Once the two arrows were removed, all that was left was the phrase in all capital letters expressed in an oblique sans-serif typeface.
Other woodcase pencils have/had mottos or slogans associated with them. For example, the Noblot was billed as being “a bottle of ink in a pencil.” What are some other classic woodcase pencil slogans? If you’ve got one (or more), submit them so that they’ll be compiled in the comments section.
Nice to see them all together on this nice background.
Some of the Japanese pencils have slogans printed on them, but they can be more of a description than a slogan (Pentel Black Polymer: the highest quality for general use), so I guess they don’t count.

I don’t know if this is technically a slogan, but Dixon Ticonderoga currently boasts their woodcase pencil as being “The World’s Best Pencil.” I wonder if this isn’t a matter for the International Pencil Tribunal in Den Haag. 🙂

There are many pencil brands with slogans that were used in packaging or advertising – but imprinted on the pencils themselves – I can’t think of any other than the examples cited.
